The Maschhoffs

This position is responsible for general repairs and maintenance on company owned and leased assets. These would include but not limited to Wean-to-Market facilities, Breed-to-Wean sow farms and offices. This position would have on call responsibilities.

Duties & Functions:

• Report progress to management on a routine basis
• Complete detailed one trip material list and needs for assigned work orders
• Diagnose and provide plausible solutions for electrical, ventilation, and other facility challenges that arise throughout the facilities.
• Complete tasks efficiently, safely, and thoroughly using best management practices.
• Ensure that all the best management practices are consistent with commonly accepted standards for animal welfare.
• Ensure that routine maintenance work is conducted in a manner that safeguards the environment and maintains regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate and closely align with farm managers and staff to deliver best in class quality products and workmanship. Provide assistance to develop and train other Maintenance Technicians with various skill sets.
• Promote safe work habits and maintain a safe working environment.
• Develop a weekly work schedule for the maintenance team for alignment with health and production.
• Manage the work order system, prioritizing open work orders to resolve the most important issues first but not losing track of lesser priority issues.

Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of:
• Electrical, plumbing, and ventilation systems
• Microsoft Office Suite
• Fuse boxes and electrical testing equipment
• Operating and servicing equipment, i.e. tractors, skidders, grinders and ATV’s
Skilled In:
• Uncompromising commitment to customer service
• Adaptation to new and changing technology
• General computing and the ability to manage workload through mobile handheld devices.
• Clear and concise written and verbal communications
• Strong interpersonal relations
• Cross divisional communication and relationship building
• Welding and Fabricating

• Work on rotating weekend shifts\ 24-7 on call

• Execute mechanical repairs on (but not limited to) feed motors, gearboxes, fan motors, belts and bearings, feed line augers, boar bots and mortality removal equipment
• Work overhead while standing on a ladder

Job Duties & Accountabilities

Typical Duties of an Animal Caregiver include:

• Comply with Animal Care standards and adhere to principles contained within the Core Values and the Animal Care Stakeholder Commitment Statement.
• Perform day-to-day production activities based on sound science and best practices to ensure high-quality production of weaned pigs.
• Protect worker safety, abiding by safe work habits to ensure a safe environment, and maintain regulatory compliance.
• Ensure pig production is conducted in a manner which safeguards the environment.
• Adhere to production practices on farm.
• Keep and maintain accurate production records.
• Perform timely duties and comply with practices to protect the health of the animals, commonly referred to as bio-security practices.
• Perform housekeeping responsibilities of barn facilities, including trash removal and maintaining cleanliness of office spaces, lunchrooms and employee changing areas.
• Perform maintenance and repairs on buildings and equipment as needed.
