Blane Olson

Blane Olson is the 3rd generation to own and operate their diverse grain and livestock operation in Logan County.  He operates a purebred Duroc showpig and breeding stock operation and, most recently, has added a wean-to-market partnership with the Maschhoffs. The Olson family have raised Purebred hogs for over 50 years.  This foundation and passion for raising livestock has been in their family for three generations and helped develop their interest in expanding into the commercial industry. He and his family grow corn and soybeans on the grain side.  Blane judges swine shows at the local, state and national level. Blane and his wife Kristi have four children, Braden, Kelten, Luke, and Coley. The Olson family is members of St. Patrick's Catholic Church where Blane sits on the Parrish Council and Kristi oversees the Sunday School program. Additionally, he's an assistant basketball coach at Mt. Pulaski Grade School and soon to be member of the school board.

Blane earned his bachelor’s degree in Agriculture Business from Western Illinois University.

How do you believe the landscape of the industry has changed over the last five years? 

“Agriculture is a great industry that seems to be ever changing. More specifically, the swine industry has progressed and grown over a short time. The development of technology, animal care and welfare are great examples of the tireless hard work and dedication that we continue to see as a positive impact from all involved.”
