Rick Edwards of Quincy in Adams County was elected to the Illinois Farm Bureau (IFB) and COUNTRY Financial board of directors in 2023 to represent District 9, which includes Adams, Brown, Hancock, McDonough, and Schuyler counties.

 

He and his wife, Mary, grow corn, soybeans, wheat, and alfalfa hay on their farm.

 

As a member of the Adams County Farm Bureau Board of Directors since 2007, Edwards has served as secretary, vice president, and president. He previously served as the Adams County Farm Bureau Foundation chairman.  He is an accredited Farm Manager, Illinois Certified Real Estate Appraiser, and a graduate of the Illinois Agricultural Leadership Program. 

 

Edwards has a Bachelor of Science and Master of Education from the University of Illinois.  He was awarded an Honorary State FFA Degree and recognized as Outstanding Instructor for John Wood Community College in 1989.  In 2020, the Quincy Herald Whig named the Paul and Edith Edwards family Farm Family of the Year. 

 

Rick and Mary have four grown children and are members of the Saint Francis Catholic Church.
