Jason earned his bachelor's degree in Animal Science from the University of Illinois.
Jason states that being a part of IPPA has helped him to better understand the issues that the industry faces and how they affect his operation. He encourages grain farmers to expand into livestock as having livestock allows for diversification of the farm and better utilization of the workforce while providing fertilizer for crops. Also, to look at the different production options and choose what best fits their farm.
How do you believe the landscape of the industry has changed over the last five years?
“It continues to get harder to generate a profit raising pigs. For this reason, the number of pig owners continues to fall which makes it that much more important that we get the remaining producers involved in sharing the benefits of raising pigs.”
