Phil is from Montgomery County and is a member of the Mid-Illinois Pork Association. He is currently on the National Pork Producers Council board and served on the IPPA board for 17 years. While on the IPPA board, he held all officer positions including president in 2008 & 2009, and served on multiple committees, including State Fair, Marketing, and Industry Services.
Borgic Farms Inc. is a third-generation operation that has 6,000 sows in a breed-to-finish operation. Additionally, they have 200 acres of corn and soybeans.
In 2016, Phil was awarded the IPPA Distinguished Service Award.
Phil and his wife, Karen have been married for 36 years and have three children; Mike, Kevin, and Michelle Bockewitz.
He is a very involved community member, in addition to his dedication to the pork industry. Phil is a member of the Knights of Columbus, a Montgomery County CEO board member, and a Montgomery County Water board member.
Being a part of IPPA has exposed Phil to different ideas and networking opportunities, both inside and outside the industry. He would tell someone wanting to get involved in the pork industry that they will never work with a better group of people!
