Mark is a ten year IPPA board member from Henry County. During that time he has served on the Education/Youth and Production Tech/Research committees and is the current chair of the Expo committee.
He is a fourth generation farmer that has 2,100 acres of corn and soybeans. He also finishes 30,000 head of hogs annually at his feeder-to-finish operation. In 2016, Mark and Karen were awarded the Master Farmer award by Prairie Farmer. He is also the recipient of the Outstanding State Pork Producer Award.
Mark and his wife, Karen, have three children, Dr. Jake (Kristina) DeDecker (past state Pork Ambassador), Lance (Lindsey) DeDecker, Partner, and Dr. Ashley (Ash) DeDecker (past outstanding County Ambassador). They also have four grandchildren: Hayven, Isaiah, Zander and Colt DeDecker.
In addition to farming and spending time with family, Mark is a member of various community organizations including FSA, SWCD, Henry County Pork Producers, Edward River Drainage District, Cambridge FFA, and he is the scholarship chairman for the Keppy Scholarship Fund.
Being a part of IPPA has helped Mark stay on top of local, state, and national issues pertaining to raising pork, and also meet fellow hog producers and make important contacts.
