Carrie is from Winnebago and is serving her second year back on the IPPA board after serving previously from 2010-2012. She works as the Technical Services Manager for Bethany Swine, which manages 20,000 sows in Northern Illinois. Carrie and her husband, Brett, also operate their family’s 90 cow dairy farm with their two daughters, Ainsley (3) and Charlotte (6 months).
She is involved in various agricultural organizations on the state and national level. Her involvement in the various groups has won her multiple awards. In 2014, she was awarded the IPPA Pork Promoter of the Year Award and in 2015-2016 she was an Illinois Farm Bureau Achievement Award winner and a National Top 10 Finalist with the American Farm Bureau Federation. Bethany Animal Hospital was also awarded the Allied Industry Partnership Award in 2009, while Carrie was working there.
Being a part of IPPA has helped the Pollard’s expand their markets through retail promotion and consumer education efforts. It also helps her to stay on top of regulatory changes and advocate for producers in the legislative arena. If she could give advice to someone looking to expand into the livestock industry it would be to check out the many opportunities that are available to you!
