Alan is serving his eighth year on the IPPA board. During that time he has served on a variety of committees including State Fair, Production Tech/Research, and Education/Youth.
He is a third generation farmer from Effingham County. On the farm, he has a contract barn with 1,000 head in a feeder-to-finish operation, 40 show pig sows, and a small grain farm of corn and soybeans.
Alan and his wife, Michelle, have been married for 16 years. They have four children, Jared (14), Eric (11), Justin (9), and Jenna (6). Alan stays active in his community by being a member of St. Clave Catholic Church and the coordinator of the Altamont Youth Sports Commission.
Being part of IPPA helps Alan stay in touch with state and national rules and laws that affect his day to day business. He would tell someone that is thinking of expanding into livestock that it is a great way to diversity your operation.
